Miguel was arrested for the crime of driving on a suspended license. He needed to help a family member who was intoxicated get home. For that, he was incarcerated for nearly a week on Riker's Island, pled guilty to a crime to go home, lost his hard won job, and now has a criminal record.
"I wouldn't wish Rikers on my worst enemy. Before I got arrested, my life was basically work, home, take care of the kids. I was a provider. But now, since I was arrested, it's all gone downhill. A criminal record. No job. And it's hard now, because now I have to start from scratch."
